This is a cross post from our members section

Sword hilts, in particular, are subject to wear and tear and the wrapping (string, leather, etc) can come loose over time.

One cheap and simple solution is to use Field Hockey grip repairs. These can be bought from most local sports shops and on-line (including Amazon) and come in around 5 each.

Here I've used two different versions on my Albions:

I never liked the "stringy" hilt of the Albion anyway and think the hilt actually looks better than the original. Please note: I am commenting on the TEXTURE of the hilt, NOT the choice of colour (as apparently the picture isn't accurate there. :) )

It's burgundy! That's just bad lighting giving it a pink effect.

You lie!

You minced straight for the "burgundy" one saying "ooh, that's pretty". Bad light (again) obviously made it look pink(ish) and it all makes sense now.

Hey - we're historical (right)? So Pink is the traditional Male colour and Blue the Female - before those darned Victorians swapped it around (blue on brides, Virgin Mary, etc).

Pink is cool - you wait and see the new compulsary t-shirts.

Hot pink T-Shirts? Mark, there is a limit to what you can do to the student members: we are not ALL colour blind! Or at least allow the girls to wear light blue...
